Mindset… how important is it really?

This is something that has been coming up for me a lot lately, mindset and how it affects us and how we can change it. My twins are going through a very trying time right now, not sure which of us it’s more trying for, but how they view the world and their lives is changing. They are starting to question things, think about consequences more and as a result have started doubting themselves and their ability.  So we tend to talk about mindset quite a bit in our family to help them with this.  Here are a few pointers to help you with yours if you find yourself having the same issues.

Our mindset is important because it shapes our thoughts, beliefs, and ultimately, our actions and outcomes. Whether we realize it or not, it is a crucial factor in determining our level of success and happiness.

So, what is a mindset? A mindset is a set of beliefs and attitudes that shape our perception of the world and influence our behaviour. There are two main types of mindsets: a FIXED mindset and a GROWTH mindset.

A fixed mindset is the belief that our abilities, intelligence, and talents are fixed traits that cannot be changed. People with a fixed mindset are more likely to avoid challenges and give up when faced with difficulties. This might be where you or your kids are in your belief system when they don’t believe they can do something and you hear them saying “IT’S TOO HARD” or “I CAN’T” or do you hear yourself saying that too.  A fixed mindset can hold us back, making us afraid of failure and limiting our potential. It is at this point that you or your kids might give up and not persevere without some help to develop their growth mindset.

On the other hand, a growth mindset is the belief that our abilities and intelligence can be developed through effort and hard work. People with a growth mindset embrace challenges and view failures as opportunities to learn and grow. Research has shown that a growth mindset can lead to greater success and happiness in both school and life when you are able to apply a positive outlook rather than give up. It allows us to approach life with a sense of possibility and determination, and to persist in the face of adversity.

Growth mindset vs Fixed Mindset. The difference between positive and negative thinking mindset concepts.

Therefore, having the right mindset is essential because it can empower us to overcome obstacles, pursue our goals, and unlock our full potential. By developing a growth mindset, we open ourselves up to new possibilities, embrace challenges, and achieve greater success and happiness.

Affirmations and mantras are a good way to help change your mindset, I have a free download in the “FREE PDF” tab, for you called “CHANGE YOUR MINDSET TO ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS ” which includes five tips which will help with changing your mindset and five intentions to live a purpose filled life. I am also currently finishing a book that will help kids activate a growth mindset to set them up for success and happiness, it will help them internalise the message that to keep working on it is how you grow your brain and because it engages them in a fun activity of colouring it unlocks their creative side making them an active part of the learning process. These positive mantras will empower your child to silence the negative self-talk, that we are all at fault for doing.

My book is called “GROWTH MINDSET COLOURING MANTRAS & AFFIRMATIONS FOR KIDS” (Colouring pages and motivational affirmations that will inspire your child to keep trying – even when it gets a bit hard). It will be available very soon and I can’t wait for you to try it out!

Thanks to these mindset mantra posters and affirmations, not only have I changed the way I view failures and setbacks, but my kids have internalized powerful, positive mantras to remind them that working on it and sticking with a problem will help their brains grow, and will ultimately help them become the people they want to be.
